I'm obsessed with Mexico...

“I am obsessed with Mexico and particularly in constructing an alternative historiographic fiction of violence and its aesthetic representations, the landscape as a witness in Mexico, the landscape as an actor. Mexico is one of my great influences, if not the greatest influence to produce, hopefully not a commonplace, is my nostalgia and my national libido. “I have always thought that Mexico is a spiritual nation, and it is my primary source of inspiration.”

We asked her a series of questions to get to know her a little more:

Color: It is seasonal. Right now I like lilac because I can't use it in my work, I still can't understand it. I'm always looking for the perfect lilac paint color or pencil color and I haven't found it yet so I guess it's a bit of a current obsession, and I also like it because I imagine it in a Cronenberg sci fi movie, along with the flesh color.

Name a corner of Mexico City that inspires you: There are several, Tlatelolco, particularly a small esplanade that is behind the Central de Maquetas, reminds me of very significant moments in my life.

What color makes you think of CDMX?: I would think of a purple or violet and a more rave, darker neon, like a classic sci fi.

“The best thing about working in art is being able to tell stories. Since I was a child I have been obsessed with being told stories and telling them, and not only contemporary art but cinema, which is also one of my great influences.”
